JAMES G MURPHY Founder
James G. Murphy is one of the most renowned auctioneers in the Pacific Northwest. His unique talent and business acumen helped grow a small auction company into a national auction powerhouse. Since holding its first consignment auction in September 1970, the James G. Murphy Co. has grown to be one of the largest commercial/industrial auction companies in the United States. It even helped liquidate real estate holdings throughout the country during the S&L crisis of the 1980s and 1990s. Yet the James G Murphy Co. remains family owned and community oriented, a testament to the core beliefs of its founder.
James G. Murphy is past president of the 6,000-member National Auctioneers Association and an inductee to the Auctioneer Hall of Fame.
ED FLANIGAN Marketing Director
Ed has over 20 years of success handling every facet of residential and commercial real estate. That experience includes cities, counties, and developers in land acquisition. Ed has also worked with builders and developers on entire communities, individual homeowners, faith-based organizations, and other landowners. Ed’s father became a Washington broker in 1950, and the Flanigan name continues its strong community ties to this day. In fact, Ed has closed thousands of real estate transactions since he began his career in 1987.
Ed has received the prestigious Top 1% award from John L Scott, as well as the esteemed Chairmans from Prudential Real Estate.
MICHAEL LAI Affiliated Broker
Michael Lai is the CEO of USASIA Pacific, Inc. a firm specializes in investment
consulting, immigration, and development and management. Prior to USASIA
Pacific, Michael was the principle of Windermere Real Estate/RNT.
Michael built a strong customer base and a team of 50 real estate professionals. Since 2006, the brokerage firm averaged annual sales volumes of $100 million. Michael has completed over 750 real estate transactions
over the course of his, with more than 55 investment transactions. During the past five years Michael has taught and directed an average of 80 training and development workshops per year on real estate investment, sales, motivation, and management. In addition he is the trainer at RNT Success Center and a
keynote speaker at conventions and seminars around the United States and Asia.
JULIE A. MURPHY-RICE CFO
Julie has managed the James G. Murphy Co.’s real estate auction division for over 20 years. During that time she has managed the auction sale for countless properties, from million-dollar mansions to a Tacoma waterfront sawmill. Julie’s accounting background and real estate experience give her unique insight when dealing with banks, estates, bankruptcy trustees, U.S. Government, private companies, individuals and real estate developers.
Julie joined the James G. Murphy Co. in 1985, and has been a licensed real estate professional since 1988. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree from DePaul University.
TIMOTHY J. MURPHY President
Tim has been conducting real estate auctions for over 20 years, and manages a crew with over 50 years combined experience. He has worked with everything from residential properties to a cold storage plant and multiple orchard properties scattered across Washington State. Under Tim’s leadership the James G. Murphy Co. conducts well over 100 auctions a year.
Tim joined the James G. Murphy Co in 1982 to help further develop the company’s already impressive leadership position in the industry. He is a member of the National Auctioneers Association and a member, as well as an award-winning instructor, of the Certified Auctioneers Institute.
TERRY D. MOORE Advertising Director
Terry has been creating award-winning, custom advertising programs for over 25 years. He has won numerous honors from the National Auctioneers Association, including Best Webpage, Best Radio Commercial, Best Photography, Best Company Brochure, Best Auction Brochure, Best Newspaper Ad, Best Television Commercial, Best Audio Visual Presentation, and Best Newspaper/Magazine Ad. From the day an auction is scheduled to the hour it ends, Terry’s strategies maximize the impact of every advertising dollar spent.
Prior to joining the James G. Murphy Co. in 1984, Terry worked in the advertising department of the Seattle Post Intelligencer for over ten years.

Qui has over 5 years’ experience working with two of the top Puget Sound real estate offices and some of the area’s top real estate producers. Her attention to detail and outstanding follow-through consistently elicit top customer service satisfaction ratings. Qui ensures that every Murphy Real Estate Auction transaction is a streamlined and agreeable experience.
Qui has a degree in economics from the University of Washington.
